The Lactation Support you Need from Pregnancy through your Return to Work.
Prenatal Visit
This lactation support visit prepares the family for all things infant feeding while they are still pregnant.
We will go over how and when to begin harvesting colostrum, hand expression, what baby will require in the first days post birth, positioning, and when to seek help.
This visit is approximately 60 minutes and can be done virtually, however in person is preferred.
Home Lactation Visits & Follow-Ups
The initial lactation support visit will be in-home either days after the birth, or whenever an issue arises.
We will be able to troubleshoot any issues such as pain during latching, educate on how to get a good deep latch, and do a weighted feed to make sure mom is making enough and baby is able to transfer milk from the breast. We will also go over pumping and supplementation as needed.
An initial visit is anywhere from 1-2 hours depending on the specific needs of the family.
Follow-up visits are conducted as needed to check back in with mom and baby and make sure they are seeing improvement, as well as answer any questions they have. If there are more complex issues going on that are outside of our scope, referrals will be provided.
Follow-up visits can be anywhere from 30 minutes-1.5 hours and can be done virtually or in-home.
Back to Work
A back to work consultation is perfect for a breastfeeding family to gain a better understanding of what to expect.
This is often the first big transition for mom and baby, and it is so nerve racking! We will go over appropriate supplementation, a good pumping schedule, paced bottle feeding, and milk storage guidelines.
This consultation can be scheduled as far as a month before the parent returns to work and can be done virtually or in-home.
