Easy Air Fryer Apple Rings
Yields: 2 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10-12 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 medium-sized Michigan apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji work great)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
- Optional: 1 tablespoon melted coconut oil or a spritz of cooking spray
- Optional: A drizzle of maple syrup after cooking
Instructions:
- Prep the Apples: Thoroughly wash your apples. Using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife, carefully slice the apples into thin rings, about 1/4 inch thick. Then, use a small knife or an apple corer to remove the core from each ring.
- Season: Place the apple rings in a bowl. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg, and toss gently to coat evenly. If you want them extra crispy, you can lightly coat them with a bit of melted coconut oil or a spritz of cooking spray.
- Arrange in Air Fryer: Place the apple rings in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Be sure not to overcrowd the basket so that the air can circulate and make them extra crispy. For this reason, you may need to cook them in batches.
- Air Fry: Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes. Halfway through (at the 5-6 minute mark), shake the basket or flip the rings to ensure they cook evenly. Cook until they are golden-brown and crispy.
- Serve & Store: Let the apple rings cool slightly, as they will crisp up even more. Enjoy them warm, or store them in an airtight container for a ready-to-go snack.
Why These Rings Are a Postpartum Power Snack
- Quick and Convenient: The air fryer makes this a “set it and forget it” snack. It’s much faster and healthier than deep-frying and a great alternative to long-baking sessions.
- Nutrient-Rich: Apples are a fantastic source of fiber, which helps with digestion and keeps you feeling full.1 They also contain antioxidants and vitamins that support your immune system, which is crucial during the postpartum period.
- The Perfect One-Handed Snack: These rings are the ideal size and shape for a quick, no-mess snack when your hands are full with baby.
- Naturally Sweet: They satisfy a sweet tooth without the need for refined sugars.
As you navigate the beautiful chaos of new parenthood, remember that nourishing your body is an act of love—for both yourself and your family. Enjoy this simple taste of the season, and know that we are here to support you in every way.
